Genetic selection is the process of selecting specific traits or characteristics from an organisms genetic makeup and isolating them for use in other organisms. This is done by identifying and isolating the desired genes or DNA sequences and then transferring them into another organism.
Genetic transfer is the process of transferring genetic material from one organism to another. This can be done naturally through processes such as sexual reproduction or artificially through techniques such as gene cloning or genetic engineering.
Genetic selection and transfer are commonly used in biotechnology to produce genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that possess desirable traits such as increased resistance to disease, improved growth rates, or enhanced nutritional value. These techniques have also been used to create new pharmaceuticals and to study the genetic basis of disease.

Genetic Selection Permanent improvements in domestic animals can be made by genetic selection through natural or artificial means. Natural selection occurs in wild animals, while artificial selection is planned and controlled by humans.
