Leptin is a peptide hormone, synthesized and secreted from adipose tissue. It acts on hypothalamus: suppresses appetite, increases body temperature and increases energy costs. It is created recombinant leptin!

Ghrelin is a peptide hormone. It is produced mainly by the fundus of the stomach and epsilon cells of the pancreas. It stimulates hunger. Ghrelin levels increase before meals and decrease after meals. It is considered the counterpart of the hormone leptin, produced by adipose tissue, which induces saturation when present at higher levels. Ghrelin is a potent stimulator of GH release too.

Orlistat (INN) – Alli: caps. 60 mg – Xenical®: caps. 120 mg It inhibits lipase in the GIT. ADRs: Diarrhoea. Orlistat is reduced BM with 10% after 6 – 8 months.

Sibutramine Its active metabolites inhibit the reuptake of 5-HT, NA and DA in CNS. Sibutramine can cause hypertension, tachycardia, insomnia, cardiovascular incidents. It is out of date and not use. Rimonabant It is a selective inhibitor of the canabinoid CB1-receptors. ADRs: Depression. Rimonabant is out of date and not use. Metformin: tablets 500 and 1000 mg
