Introduction to the pelvis Greater pelvis: The lower portion of the abdomen that lies between the flared iliac crests and is occupied by the inferior abdominal viscera. Lesser pelvis: Demarcated by the pelvic brim, sacrum and coccyx and contains the pelvic viscera.
