Cervical incompetence Definition :It is a premature painless dilatation of the endocervical canal in the pregnancy unknown etiology / known etiology (congenital weakness like cervical hypoplasia/ traumatic like obstetric or surgical trauma/ connective tissue abnormalities(Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) Diagnosis of exclusion( after excluding other causes like chromosomal,endocrine ,immunological or infective) Diagnosis during pregnancy H/O unexpected rupture of the membranes followed by painless expulsion of the fetus Repeated mid-trimester spontaneous painless abortions
